How to Align Your Resume Template

Making your resume perfect is vital to getting hired.

Let’s face it, sometimes things can get messy, especially if you are unfamiliar with word processing software or have little technical abilities. We want to make it easy if things get moved around a little.

Remember: All text boxes are aligned with your margin. Your align tools will say, align with margin.

Aligning Your Resume in Microsoft Word

1. Select what you are aligning. If you are selecting 2+ items, hold your shift key while selecting.

2. Next, go to Main Menu →Shape Format

3. Select Arrange

4. Select what you want to be aligned (To Page, To Margin, or To Selected Object)

5. Select align option (Horizontal, Vertical, Distribute)

Hot Tip: Always use your shortcut hotkeys CMD+Z if something moves out of place.

Remember: All text boxes are aligned with the margin. Choose the option: Align with Margin.

As you are moving assets like text boxes and icons, you will see guidelines appearing that automatically show alignments.

You can also:

1) Double-click on item → menu pops up

2) On menu select → arrange 

3) Align or Distribute → choose best option
